One of the earliest owners of this property was A. L. Clearwater who sold it to James and Julia Pettygrew in 1910. Mr. Pettygrew is listed as a farmer in the Salem City Directories. The Pettycrews resided here through 1939 at which time it was sold to C. C. and Mattie White. Later residents and owners were Wesley and Edna Adkins, Lina Dreschsel and wife, and Herman and Clara Valencourt.
The current owners have lived in this home since 1967. In 2012, they were presented with the Neighborhood Beautification award and the property has been included twice in the A. C. Gilbert House Garden Tour. (NEN)
