Parrish Junior High School, Capitol & D Street NE, (D)

The school opened September 29, 1924 at the cost of $225,00 with HF Durham as the first Principal. In 1948 the first remodeling took place when an auditorium, gymnasium, and three new classrooms were added. In 1974 Parrish had its Golden Anniversary; some 200 former students and teachers attended. In 1994 all of Parrish students and staff moved out for one year while Parrish was being updated. October 7, 1999 was the 75th celebration: a time capsule and tree were planted in the front yard. See earlier photographs of this school.
