Cross, 1635 Fairmount Avenue S, (NR)

This Spanish Colonial Revival home was built at the top of fashionable Fairmount Hill. The architect was Clarence L. Smith, however Mr. Cross, the owner, had the house completed by a Portland architect. The second owner of the house was Asel C. Eoff. The third owner, Dr. Ralph Purvine, was significant in both the medical and education fields in Salem, having been a physician at Willamette University and a founder of the Salem Clinic. Dr. Purvine’s daughter lives in the house at present. See 1992 photograph.
