William Munson’s household here included wife Margaret and 6 children who maintained the farm and cherry orchard in the early 1900s. Son Andrew and his wife Miranda stayed on here with their family after Margaret died. The Depression forced the second generation of the family to abandon the house to work on the orchards of West Salem. The property was sold to the two Biles sisters, one of whom had been a missionary to China. She inspired a lifelong interest in that country to at least one young neighbor.
