Pade, 640 15th Street NE, (LL)

Built by Gottlob and Wilhelmena Pade, recent immigrants, this bungalow was also home for their son, Bernhardt. By 1921, Ben had married Leona and was a partner in Simon & Pade, a grocery store. He operated Pade’s Market until retirement 1965. After 1975, she lived here as a widow until 1985 and was well known for her garden of nature and rare plants.

The photograph below was taken in 1987. It shoes how well the integrity of the architecture has been maintained.
