Hawkins, 355 Lincoln Street S, (LL)

Harry M. Hawkins, a prominent Salem businessman, was the first owner of this Colonial revival house designed by Clarence Smith. Mr. Hawkins was at one time the owner of the Marion and Senator hotels in Salem and played a major role in the later development of downtown Salem. Later residents were William and Harriet Walton; Walton was a vice president of the Ladd & Bush Bank. Later residents were Fred and Elsa Schmidt, and R. L. and Jean Edwards.
