D'Arcy, 685 Church Street NE, (LL)

This is the second D'Arcy house built on this property that had been in D'Arcy family ownership since 1861. It was constructed in 1888 by Peter D'Arcy for his wife Barbara. The three D'Arcy children, Peter H.(1854-1933), Maria Francis(1856-1911), and Teresa (1862-1936), never married and continued to live in the house until their deaths. The house was sold in 1943 to H. Clay and Nellie Taylor. See another photograph.

Sorry about the first mess-up!

I'm fairly sure this is the house I've seen a line of small cottages tucked in behind. The stylist who cuts my hair rents one of the cottages. I've been curious about their original purpose ever since I first began going to her.
Do you know?

The Local Landmarks listing mentions "three one-story gable-roofed cottage-offices with wood shingles in rear"and "This is the second D'Arcy house built on this property which had been in D'Arcy family ownership since 1861 two years after the family arrived in Salem. The subject house was constructed in 1888 by Peter D'Arcy for his wife Barbara. The three D'Arcy children, Peter H. (1854-1933), Maria Francis (1856-1911), and Teresa (1862-1936), never married and continued to live in the house until their deaths."
I don't think they lived in the cottages, but it is a possibility!
